4ie
Instituto Internacional de Investigação e Inovação do Envelhecimento
The 4ie project intends
to understand the biomedical, functional and psychological aspects of aging in concrete
contexts, generate new care models and processes to elderly and technological solutions that contribute to
their health and quality of life and to sustainability of services.
These themes have been dealt with in these regions in isolation and without depth. At contextual
similarities between regions and the leveraging of skills achieved through a coordinated trans-regional
work, with a scientific approach and objectives common and strongly results-oriented, will improve the
impact and potential of international dissemination of results, resulting in relevant and wide-ranging
effects to a current societal challenge.
Research will allow the development of new models of integrative care inter-caregivers and inter-levels,
in Intelligent Assisted Living Environments, with new human-machine interaction models suited to the
characteristics of the elderly.
It is also expected to generate interoperability standards between levels of care and between countries.
The expected results are innovative as they seek to solve new problems with different approaches and in a
transnational perspective. Users of health services will benefit, particularly the elderly, the health
professionals and the health system as a whole to the extent that these results contribute to the
sustainability of the system and the improvement of performance indicators of health and wellness.
