José Jasnau Caeiro is an Associate Professor/Professor Coordenador, of the Informatics Scientific Area, in the Engineering Department/School of Management and Technoloy of the Polytechnic University of Beja/Instituto Politécnico de Beja (IPBeja), where he started to work in the end of 1996.
Holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Instituto Superior Técnico/Universidade de Lisboa (IST/UL) under the supervision of Professor Moisés Piedade. The thesis covered Edge Detection a subject that is part of the Digital Image Processing field of research. Also holds a M.Sc. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering: Electronics and Computers branch from IST/UTL and a Licenciate degree in Physics and Materials Engineering: Physics Engineering branch from NOVA School of Science and Technology.
Currently teaches the High Performance Computing course, mainly devoted to Parallel Computing in the Master in Computer Science and Internet of Things (IoT) degree, and the Data Structures and Algorithms course in the B.Sc. in Engenharia Informática.
As leader of Work Package 5 (WP5) of the HEROES European University Alliance is devoted to establishing an applied research network. In 2015 he was part of the group that implemented the SEPSI Lab, a common endeavour of the research team members.
